Arrest Made In North Miami Beach Kidnapping, Sexual Assault
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – North Miami Beach police have arrested a person in connection with a kidnapping and sexual battery earlier this month.
On January 16, 2014, the woman was walking back to her car after picking up food from a restaurant at 1026 North Miami Beach Blvd. when she was approached by at least two males wearing black gloves and armed with handguns. The woman was forced into the back seat of a van and driven to the Oak Grove Area in north Miami-Dade County where, police said, she was sexually assaulted by several people.
They then drove her to various locations in the North Miami-Dade County/North Miami Beach area including several fast food restaurants and gas stations, before she was dropped off near her home.
Over the weekend, North Miami Beach Police detectives arrested a juvenile in connection to their investigation. His name is not being released due to his age.
The arrested juvenile was charged with armed sexual battery, armed carjacking, armed kidnapping, and possession of marijuana.
Detectives are actively looking for others who may have been involved in the kidnapping and sexual assault. They are also checking for links to any other similar cases. However, investigators have said they have no reason to believe this attack was connected to any other similar cases.
