Army Recruiter Accused Of Sexual Misconduct With Teens

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - A U.S. Army recruiter is accused of sexual misconduct with underage girls.

Jose Nieves, 30, allegedly engaged in sex acts with several high school students while working as a recruiter. Many of the girls were potential military recruits from schools in Broward, according to the criminal complaint. He also reportedly enticed one teen to take a sexually explicit photograph of herself and send it to him.

The FBI's Child Exploitation Task Force, along with Plantation and Davie police, opened an investigation on Nieves after the parents of one of the 17-year-olds went to the police.

Prosecutors said Nieves will be indicted on federal charges of enticing a minor into sexual activity and production of child pornography related to three of his victims. They add that new allegations could lead to additional charges.

Nieves has been a recruiter in South Florida for the past two years.
