Appeals Court Rejects Execution Stay For Murderer

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/NSF) - A federal appeals court has rejected a stay of execution for convicted murderer who is scheduled to die by lethal injection Thursday at Florida State Prison.
A three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals turned down Oscar Ray Bolin Jr., who raised similar issues in an appeal rejected last month by the Florida Supreme Court.
Bolin, 53, is scheduled to be executed for the December 1986 murder of Terri Lynn Matthews, whose body was discovered by the side of a road in rural Pasco County.
In the appeals, Bolin has argued, in part, that newly discovered evidence indicates another man confessed to the murder.
