Al Golden's Future at Miami is Unclear
The University's response is down at the bottom.
WQAM's Marc Hochman dropped a few rumor bombs on Twitter in regards to Al Golden's future as head football coach at the University of Miami just before his show began on Tuesday afternoon.
I don't have "sources" like other media people. I'm just a talk show schlub. But I just got a phone call from a UM confidant. About Golden.

I'll share the info at 3pm on 560 WQAM. Again, I just got off the phone w/ him/her. He/She says Golden might be gone by tonight.

I shared on air what I was told about Al Golden from a person close to the program. Don't know what's true or not. I'm NOT a journalist.

Hoch said it was a former Miami football player who initially reached out to him, saying Golden might be dismissed as soon as tonight. He then spoke of receiving another phone call with information that Miami's Board of Trustees was meeting about a variety of things.
"They said the UM Board of Trustees was meeting today," Hoch said on 560 WQAM. "About the President, about the AD, and about a whole bunch of things going on in the athletic department."
The WQAM afternoon host reiterated his info was not concrete, he is "NOT" a journalist, and these are simply nuggets he was told by a few people close to the Miami football program.
After wrapping up a 6-6 regular season with three consecutive losses, including two by double digits against inferior opponents in Virginia and Pitt, a head coaching change wouldn't be a shocker considering Al's lack of production in Year 4.
It would be a surprise in the sense that Miami AD Blake James said Golden would return as head coach last week regardless of what happened against Pitt and the bowl game to follow. The Miami Herald's Barry Jackson and the AP's Tim Reynolds addressed the rumor shortly after Hoch's tweets.
Miami AD Blake James: "Al Golden is our coach and will continue to be our coach." (He's said this before, isn't deviating, repeated now.)

Amid unfounded rumors regarding Golden,Blake James reiterating to media today what he told me last week:Golden will continue to be the coach

Update at 6:30 p.m.: The University of Miami reached out to WQAM today, clarifying there was no Board of Trustees meeting today regarding Al Golden's future and that he will remain at Miami as head coach.
