GREENSBORO (CBSMiami/AP) — Changes are coming to the way the ACC handles an important aspect of college football.
The Atlantic Coast Conference is adding an assistant coordinator for football replay.
Commissioner John Swofford on Wednesday announced that longtime on-field official Ted Jackson will fill the new position.
He will serve as the ACC's liaison with all aspects of replay, including year-round training and development.
Jackson worked ACC games from 1977-2004 and was a replay official for the league from 2005-2015.
Swofford says creating the new job and hiring Jackson for it "should help us continue to enhance the quality" of replay operations.
The ACC's most notable officiating gaffe of 2015 took place at the end of Miami's 30-27 win over Duke.
The league suspended the on-field officials and replay crew for two league games, saying they committed "a series of errors" on the Hurricanes' wild last-play touchdown.
