MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Every year, children from around the world write letters to Santa listing items they would like to open Christmas morning.

The United States Post Office, on Christmas Eve, gave CBS4's Brian Andrews a look at some of the letters that were sent to Santa from children across South Florida.

The letters, reviewed by Andrews Wednesday, along with Newsroom Executive Assistant Jeremy Jacobson, included children asking for everything from dolls, to electronics, even cash. One child pleaded for an unlimited data plan.

Another letter, looked over by CBS4 Anchor Rhiannon Ally, requested Santa to be on the lookout for a lost family pet who hasn't been seen in months.

The USPS says it receives thousands of letters at mail facilities each year and makes some available to Santa's helpers who want to make sure he gets the message.
