'A Grumpy Bear... Grrrr, Grrrr:' Family Finds Bear Trapped In Car

By Suzanne McCarroll

EVERGREEN, Colo. (CBS4)- The Meurer family of Evergreen got quite a surprise when they went to get in the family car. There was a bear trapped inside.

"He was rocking the car back and forth moving back and forth hopping from front to back," said Shaylee Meurer.

She said the windows of the car were closed, there was no food inside but the bear apparently opened the door handle and climbed in.

Somehow the door closed behind him and the small bear found himself locked inside.

The Meurer's 3-year-old daughter, whose long blonde curls make her look like the story book character Goldilocks, says she was worried about the bear.

"He was this tiny bear, he was brown and black. He was a grumpy bear... yeah," said the little girl.

The Meurers called their neighbor Kevin Miller to come help get the bear out of the car.

"I grabbed a couple pots and pans and ran down to the car," said Miller.

He used the kitchen utensils to make noise as he opened the car door to let the bear out.

The inside of the family KIA was torn up, including broken mirrors, cracked windows and the stuffing from the car seats was ripped out.

Only the laptop computer inside seems to have escaped the bear's wrath.

Meanwhile, our local Goldilocks says the bear did a lot of growling, "He ruined the car and did this, 'Grrrrr, grrrr, grrrr.'"
