5K Race Honors Zookeeper Killed In Tiger Attack

PALM BEACH COUNTY (CBSMiami) -- Hundreds of runners and walkers took to the Palm Beach streets in a 5K race honoring the veteran zookeeper killed by a tiger.

The annual event is now known as the "Stacey Konwiser Memorial, Save the Tiger 5K."

The race was a sellout for the first time and proceeds went toward the Stacey Konwiser Tiger Conservation Fund, which supports tiger conservation and will provide scholarships for zookeepers.

Konwiser died after entering the tiger cage with the animal still inside. Officials with the Palm Beach Zoo said that violated their rules.
