Disney Cracks Down On Selfie Sticks

ORLANDO (CBSMiami) -- Disney World is cracking down on guests who love to bring their selfie sticks on rides.
The Orlando Sentinel reports theme park guests can bring the selfie sticks into the parks but cannot bring them on rides. They must be securely stored before boarding the rides.
Selfie sticks can be used to extend cameras out up to 3 feet. On a fast moving ride, that could be dangerous.
A few weeks ago, Disney told workers to remind guests of that policy.
Now, "No Selfie Sticks" signs are going up around the parks notifying guests of the new rule on certain attractions in both the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Orlando and Disneyland in Anaheim.

Magic Kingdom's Thunder Mountain has had a number of incidents in which the ride had to be stopped because of selfie stick use.
Universal Studios Orlando doesn't want selfie sticks on its rides either. It has installed metal detectors at three of its most thrilling rides to make sure no loose objects, including selfie sticks, are being brought onto the rides.
