Man led police on 3 county chase after stealing Miami-Dade fire truck

MIAMI - A man accused of stealing a fire rescue truck and leading police on a three-county pursuit is facing serious charges.

Authorities said 31-year-old Aljenard Lekambrick stole a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue truck in Miami-Dade and drove it all the way up to Palm Beach County on Thursday night.

The truck, Engine 32, was taken from NE 168th Street in North Miami Beach.

"According to investigators, MDFR personnel were conducting a training exercise in the area of NE 166th Street and NE 7th Avenue, when a subject entered one of the fire trucks and proceeded to steal it," according to a statement from Miami-Dade Police. "As the subject fled, he crashed into an unoccupied marked Opa-locka Police Department cruiser, which was parked in the area of 18th Avenue and NW 143rd Terrace."

Miami-Dade police spotted the truck getting on northbound I-95 and pursued it.
