Two dead in Pompano Beach shooting, suspect detained
MIAMI - The Broward Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting resulting in the deaths of two people in Pompano Beach.
It happened Monday night at around 7 p.m. inside a convenience store in the 400 block of Northwest 27th Avenue.
BSO investigators said they responded to the scene at around 7:30 p.m. and when they got there, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.
Both men, identified as Quaavon Ellis and Brandon McNair, were rushed to a local hospital, where they later died as a result of their injuries.
Homicide and Crime Scene units have been conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the shooting.
"The preliminary investigation reveals that an altercation occurred between the shooter and the two individuals and shots were fired inside the store. Deputies detained the shooter on scene for questioning and, at this time, detectives do not believe any other shooters were involved in the incident," officials said.
BSO has not released the name of the person who was detained.
No additional information had been released about the shooting.
