Attempted Murder Suspect Struck By Vehicle During Pursuit On EB 210 Fwy In Glendora
GLENDORA (CBSLA.com) — An attempted murder suspect was hospitalized on Thursday after he was struck by a vehicle during a police chase.
Around 12:30 a.m., detectives were searching for an attempted murder suspect in Azusa with assistance from the Azusa Police Department, according to the South Gate Police Department.
Officers explained the suspect was wanted in connection with an incident that occurred on Aug. 9.
When authorities spotted the suspect, a pursuit began on surface streets, which eventually led to the eastbound 210 Freeway.
During the chase, the suspect drove on the wrong side of the freeway before he stopped his red SUV and jumped over the median. He was subsequently struck by oncoming traffic after he exited his vehicle and ran on the freeway.
Paramedics transported the suspect to a hospital where he was listed in critical, but stable condition.
In response to the collision, California Highway Patrol officers closed all lanes on the eastbound side of the freeway until further notice. Traffic is being diverted at the southbound 57 Freeway.
According to CHP officers, all lanes of the westbound side of the freeway have reopened.
