CBS News Los Angeles

Authorities arrested an alleged wrong-way driver who was bloodied and walking along the Pacific Coast Highway in Hermosa Beach on Friday evening.

They say that the head-on crash happened at around 7 p.m. on Friday evening on PCH, according to the Hermosa Beach Police Department.

While the other driver involved in the crash was treated by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics at the scene, the driver allegedly left their car and jumped over a nearby fence following the collision.

An HBPD sergeant reported spotting the driver, covered in blood, as they walked down PCH about three hours after the crash.

The driver, only identified as a man, was taken to a hospital where he was treated for injuries suffered.

"The HBPD Traffic Bureau is in the process of filing multiple felony charges against the suspect," the statement said.

Anyone who may know more is asked to contact investigators at (310) 318-0360.
