World Cup Champion U.S. Women's Team To Celebrate On Tuesday With Public At L.A. LIVE

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Angelenos are invited to celebrate with the entire 2015 U.S. Women's National Team on their World Cup title.

Fans are invited to attend the celebration Tuesday at L.A. LIVE to meet the members of the team that captured the United States' record third World Cup title and first Women's World Cup since 1999.

Carli Lloyd, who scored three times as the U.S. jumped to a four-goal lead in the first 16 minutes and led the Americans to an overwhelming 5-2 victory over Japan on Sunday, will join Lauren Holiday and the rest of the team at L.A. LIVE's Microsoft Square at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

The U.S. had struggled in the World Cup since winning the inaugural tournament in 1991 and then again at the Rose Bowl eight years later.

Lloyd and the Americans overwhelmed defending champion Japan, 5-2, for the team's first World Cup championship since 1999 and record third overall.

After the championship rally, select players will speak with members of the media in a mixed-zone format.

"We are really thrilled that U.S. soccer accepted our invitation to bring the entire World Champion team to L.A. LIVE and Microsoft Square tomorrow to celebrate this incredible achievement," L.A. LIVE's Michael Roth said.

Fans looking to attend the free event are encouraged to RSVP here.

L.A. LIVE's Microsoft Square is at 777 Chick Hearn Court, Los Angeles, CA 90015.

Free public parking will be available after 9 a.m. in the west garage.

Live coverage of the event will be available on CBS2 and KCAL9 Tuesday at 11 a.m.
