Woman zip-tied during home invasion robbery in Stanton

A home-invasion robbery in Stanton, where a grandmother was zip-tied and held at gunpoint, is under investigation by Orange County sheriff's investigators.

The robbery, which was reported to Stanton Police Services deputies at about 5:20 a.m., took place at a home in the 8100 block of Stanford Avenue.

The woman told CBSLA's Michele Gile she was zip-tied for an hour while one man held a gun to her forehead, and the other ransacked her home and took valuables. Her wrists still bore red marks where she was zip-tied 12 hours later.

"She feared for her life. She's lucky she's alive. She was in shock until the police came," the woman's relative said.

Authorities released few details about the robbery, other than to say that investigators and its crime lab remain at the scene to process evidence. The men slit the screen on a kitchen window to get in, which woke up the woman.

"She was sleeping and she heard some noise, and then she came out and then they held her at gunpoint," the man said. "They used her hat, her beanie, to cover her face."

The robbers broke down two doors inside her mobile home to get to her valuables -- her designer handbags and jewelry.

Investigators are trying to determine if the home invasion is related to neighbor's break-in just last month.

Anyone with information about the investigation can call sheriff's dispatch center at (714) 647-7000.
