Woman Suffers Burns, Child Unharmed After Van Nuys Apartment Fire

VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — One woman suffered burns while a child escaped unharmed after an apartment fire in Van Nuys, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The blaze was reported to the LAFD at 3:48 p.m., according to spokesman Brian Humphrey. The fire was contained to one of the 28 units in the three-story building at 6825 Haskell Ave., just north of Vanowen Street.

Humphrey said 37 firefighters responded to the scene, and the blaze was knocked down in 16 minutes.

The estimated loss has not been determined, he said, and the cause of the fire remains under investigations.
