Mother Of 3 Shot, Killed In Bellflower

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) – Authorities are searching for a man suspected of shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend, a 26-year-old mother of three, in a Bellflower apartment Monday afternoon.

The shooting occurred before 1:35 p.m. at a complex in the 16200 block of Cornuta Avenue. Los Angeles County Sheriff's detectives responded to find the victim dead at the scene. She was identified by friends as Kenia Buckner.

The sheriff's department reports that the suspect is believed to be Buckner's ex-boyfriend, 27-year-old Antowan Parker. Detectives believe Parker entered Buckner's aparment with a handgun and shot her at least once in the torso. Her family was in the apartment at the time, deputies said. He then ran south on foot.

He remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous.  The gun used in the shooting has not been recovered, LASD said. There was no word on a motive.

One neighbor told KCAL9 she heard at least one gunshot.

"Like just a boom, and while I was throwing away the trash," Ariana Rios said. "And then I heard kids screaming and I just ran outside to see what happened. And there were kids screaming and running away and I immediately ran to my house and told my mom."

Parker is described as black, 5-foot-9, weighing 230 pounds with a tattoo on the front part of his neck. His hair is in braids.

Anyone with information on the case should call the sheriff's department at 562-863-8711, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
