Two dead after apparent murder-suicide in Greenmead area

Woman shot to death in Greenmead area victim of apparent murder-suicide

Two people were found shot dead in the unincorporated Greenmead community of Los Angeles County on Saturday morning.

The shooting unfolded at around 4:45 a.m. on East 119th Street, and when authorities arrived they found two individuals in their 40s dead from gunshot wounds.

Deputy Brenda Serna of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Information Bureau detailed what detectives believe led to the incident.

"Investigators learned the female victim, who lived across the street from where she was discovered, had returned home, where the male, believed to be her ex-boyfriend, was waiting for her," she said. "The male suspect chased the victim a short distance before shooting her. The suspect then turned the gun on himself."

Authorities identified the two people involved as 40-year-old Rayona Davis, the victim, and 42-year-old Ralph Martin, the suspect.

A firearm was recovered from the scene.

As the investigation continued, deputies asked that anyone with information regarding the shooting was asked to call detectives at (323) 890-5500.
