Woman shot, killed in apartment in El Sereno
A woman was shot and killed in an El Sereno apartment Tuesday night and a suspect is in custody.
The shooting occurred at an apartment in the 5300 block of Hyde Street at 10:25 p.m., according to Los Angeles police.
The 25-year-old victim was found dead by the front door of her apartment, police said. She had been shot in the neck. Her name was not immediately released.
Los Angeles police had initially reported that the woman was killed in a drive-by shooting while standing on the balcony, but later disclosed that she was believed to have been shot by her roommate.
The suspect remained at the scene and was in custody, police confirmed to CBSLA. He was not identified. It's unclear if their relationship extended beyond being just roommates.
The circumstances that precipitated the shooting were unknown.
