Woman Found Dead In Hancock Park Store

HANCOCK PARK (CBSLA) — Police are investigating a possible homicide after a woman was killed inside a Hancock Park store Thursday afternoon.

"There was no one else in the store," said Detective Herman Frettlohr. "And she was discovered by another customer that came in after the fact."

At about 2 p.m., the Los Angeles Police Department responded to Croft House, a boutique furniture store on the 300 block of La Brea Avenue, near Beverly Boulevard, after receiving reports of an assault. According to Officer Mike Lopez, officers arrived at the scene and discovered the woman's dead body.

Police identified the victim as 24-year-old Brianna Kupfer. According to police, the man who killed her fled out the back door up through the alley toward Oakwood Avenue and La Brea Avenue.

It is currently unknown what led up to the woman's death and how she was killed, however, preliminary reports show that the woman was not shot. Police confirmed that the victim was an employee of the store and are unsure of the relationship between the victim and the suspect.

Police are urging residents to be on alert of suspicious activity around businesses and also announced that the department has deployed additional patrols in the area.

No description of the suspect is available at this time.
