Woman Convicted Of Fatally Beating Elderly Man At Metro Station
COMPTON (AP) — A Los Angeles County jury has convicted a 25-year-old woman of fatally beating a 65-year-old man on a Metro Blue Line rail platform.
The jury deliberated three days before finding Tracy Joy Gomez guilty of voluntary manslaughter on Tuesday. Gomez faces up to 22 years in prison when she's sentenced on Oct. 6.
Prosecutor Shannon Cooley says Gomez got into an argument with John Whitmore at a rail station in Willowbrook on June 13, 2014, beat him and fled.
Whitmore was hospitalized but died of his injuries seven days later.
