Wildlife officials searching for deer that has a bone lodged in its mouth

California Department of Fish & Wildlife officials are busy searching for a deer that has one Hollywood Hills neighborhood concerned, after several photos of the animal with a bone lodged in its mouth surfaced on social media.

Some living in the area took to the NextDoor app, posting pictures and messages seeking help for the animal.

The photos show the deer, which appears to be a female according to posters, with a large bone protruding from its mouth. Its tongue also pokes out of the side of its mouth, which it cannot seem to close.

They believe that because of the way that the bone is stuck, the animal is unable to eat, which could lead to it's eventually starvation.

SkyCal was over the Hollywood Reservoir as wildlife officials and park rangers scoured the area for the deer on Monday afternoon. Walking and jogging tracks were shut down during the search, which proved unsuccessful.

They plan to continue their search until they're able to locate the animal.
