Water Main Break Floods Venice Condo Complex Garage

VENICE (CBSLA.com) — A 6-inch water main break flooded the garage of a Venice condo complex overnight.

Approximately 100,000 gallons of water flooded the garage in the 200 block of Carroll Canal in Venice around 10:30 p.m., the Department of Water and Power said.

The Los Angeles Fire Department was able to shut off the water after about 40 minutes, however, residents were still without water Tuesday morning.

Resident Sheena Duggal said its the second time in two years that the flooding has occurred. In August 2012, she lost her car and suffered $40,000 in property damage.

"Replacement of the approximately 1,000 feet of drinking water pipe serving this part of the Venice area has been moved up in LADWP's overall repair schedule. Engineers are currently working on the design and will implement the replacement project before the end of 2014," the utility said in a statement.

Water was restored to homeowners by 8 a.m., officials said.
