Police: Victorville Mom On Run With 2 Children After Killing Her Husband

VICTORVILLE (CBSLA.com)  —  Police in Victorville say a mother is on the run with her two children after she killed her husband.

The investigation reportedly began Tuesday evening when authorities made a welfare check to the home in the 13700 block of Brynwood Street.

Deputies found the body of Antoine Smith, 35, in a bedroom in his Victorville home.

Co-workers contacted deputies when Smith failed to show up for work after several days.

The Sheriff's Department said Wednesday that Leticia Smith, 33, killed him.

The woman fled with daughters Isabel, 8, and Abigail, 4, authorities said.

Smith is believed to be driving a silver 2010 four-door Honda Accord with California license plate 7FBT742.

A Smith neighbor, told KCAL9's Peter Daut, "I'm just hoping and praying that the girls are okay."

Stacee Harold said, "Oh my God. I can't believe this. I'm still shocked."

Neighbors told Daut they heard a loud noise coming from the house earlier in the week.

"We heard like a shotgun blast go off," said Osvaldo Macias, a neighbor.

Neighbors said the couple worked together on a military base and often fought.

"I just hope God will be with her and her family, her two young daughters," said neighbor Darren Green, "Rest in peace Mr. Smith."

Officials said they have not issued an Amber Alert for the children because they do not believe the mother plans to harm them.

Anyone with information about Smith's whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
