Victims Of Revenge-Porn Site Creator Break Their Silence

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —  Victims of a revenge-porn website are speaking out.

Hunter Moore, 28, struck a plea deal with federal prosecutors in February.

Moore was once dubbed the "most hated man on the Internet" for posting explicit photos and information about the people portrayed in them on his website. He said he made upwards of $30,000 a month.

Authorities said many images were posted by jilted lovers to get even with former partners, hence the term "revenge porn." Other photos he admitted were obtained after he hired someone to hack hundreds of strangers' email accounts.

Charlotte Laws was shocked when a topless photo of her 24-year-old daughter popped up online.

"She was hysterical," Laws said. "She was withdrawn. She came home, she locked herself in her room."

Her daughter's email account was one of those that was hacked.

Yoga instructor Melissa Riedel says her account was also hacked. A topless photo she said was taken during a professional modeling  photo session ended up on the site.

"It was a private photo, and I hadn't shared that photo with anybody," Riedel says.

In his February plea deal, Moore plead guilty to identity theft and hacking.

Prosecutor Wendy Wu said: "We understand that the harm done is really irreparable, but we hope the guilty pleas brings some closure to the victims."
