U2 Gives Lucky Fans Free 'Surprise' Show At The Roxy

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Amid a five-night run at the Forum, the band U2 put on an intimate show at The Roxy Theatre on Thursday night for 500 fans who managed to score free tickets from KROQ.

The radio station announced the surprise gig early Thursday morning and gave out tickets to callers every 30 minutes. KROQ is owned by CBS, parent company of CBS Television and CBSLA.com.

It's the smallest venue the band has played in decades.

The band also surprised a crowd outside by coming out and posing for photos. Bono stopped to sign autographs.

A fan inside tweeted a photo of Bono crowd-surfing.

Didn't manage to get in to The Roxy? There are still tickets on sale for the band's show at the Forum this Saturday and Sunday, as well as for June 3.
