Two people found dead inside Seal Beach home; investigation underway

Two people were found dead inside of a Seal Beach home on Thursday, prompting an investigation into the cause of their deaths. 

Officers were first dispatched to the scene, in the 600 block of Ocean Avenue, after receiving a call for unknown trouble in the area, according to Seal Beach Police Department. 

Upon arrival, they found two people, a 65-year-old man and an 84-year-old woman, dead inside of the home. 

Family members of one of the victims called police to report that their brother was having difficulties with their elderly mother, prompting them to make a welfare check. They entered the home through an unlocked door and found the bodies, SBPD noted. 

Police said that family members were in the process of establishing in-home services for the woman and her son was there to take care of her in the meantime. 

However, the son was reportedly frustrated with caring for his mother's condition as detailed by the out-of-state family member who reported the incident to police. 

During a final call, the relative reported hearing a loud bang and the son said that his mother was "gone."

Detectives discovered a firearm by the son's hand, who was lying on the bed with his mother. Both were suffering from fatal gunshot wounds to the head, police said. 

Neither of their identities have been released.
