Two high school girls attacked by man in Baldwin Park: Person of interest in custody
Baldwin Park police say the man they have been looking for as a suspect in the attack of two high school girls over the last week, has been found and is in custody as a person of interest connected in some way to the attacks.
The two separate incidents happened within a week of each other in early December. The first attack happened at about 9 a.m. on Dec. 8 next to Central Elementary School near the intersection of Big Dalton Avenue and Central Avenue.
The second assault happened four days later on Dec. 12 between Ahern Drive and Vineland Avenue close to Vineland Elementary School.
Police released videos of the suspect in both of the attacks and Friday they would not call the man a suspect, but said gang detectives along with Baldwin Park Unified School District staff worked together, and ultimately evidence was discovered that connected the man to both attacks.
Investigators urged anyone with information on the suspect to call Detective I. Rodas at (626) 960-1955 ext. 425 or Detective S. Trinidad at 626-960-1955 ext. 457.
Police did serve a search warrant at a home in Baldwin Park. There, they seized evidence related to the cases. They detained a person of interest.
