5 Injured After Pileup On 110 Freeway In Downtown LA

LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) — Fire officials say five people were taken to hospitals Tuesday following a pileup involving as many as five vehicles on the 110 Freeway in Downtown Los Angeles.

California Highway Patrol Officer Monica Posada says all northbound lanes of State Route 110 were briefly closed following the accident around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Two lanes were reopened about an hour later as traffic inched by the scene of the crash, which involved as many as five vehicles, near Gage Avenue.

Rush hour traffic was backed up for miles, CHP officials said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
