Time Warner Cable Customers Hit With Fee Hikes As Much As 30 Percent

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — With the new year comes fee hikes of as much as 30 percent for Time Warner Cable customers.

The price hikes, which took place over the Christmas holiday period, reflect improvements in services offered, according to Time Warner, including a $2 increase in the rental rate for Time Warner's high-speed modem, from $6 to $8 a month – a 30 percent increase -- and a $2.75 surcharge on sports channels, whether viewers users use them or not.

There was also a price increase for access to local channels, from $2.25 to $2.75.

Time Warner Cable customers did not seem to be wildly outraged by the fee hikes, KNX 1070's Pete Demetriou said.

"Yeah, everybody's just got their hand out now, that's just how it is," one customer named Bill said.
