Tickets For Stanley Cup Final On Pace To Be Most Expensive Ever
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Kings fans could be a lot lighter in the wallet after tickets to the Stanley Cup Final went on sale Monday morning.
KNX 1070's Ed Mertz reports analysts say the series between the Kings and the New York Rangers could be the most expensive Stanley Cup ever.
A special presale for tickets to Game 1 of the best-of-seven series at STAPLES Center on Wednesday began at 10 a.m. today for current season ticket holders, with face value prices ranging from $350 to $2,500.
Non-season ticket holders can register at the LA Kings official website through 11:59 p.m. today for a random drawing. There is a limit of one entry per person.
Chris Matcovich of secondary market event ticket aggregator TiqIQ said prices for this Stanley Cup series are on pace to be the most expensive ever at a current average price of $1,926.11.
Last year's match-up between the Boston Bruins and the Chicago Blackhawks ranks as the second-most expensive, with an average series price for $1,503.39, according to Matcovich.
While this trip to the Stanley Cup Final will mark the second time in three seasons that the Kings have advanced, one longtime fan, Travis, said the prices seem to be a little inflated.
"To be honest, I think they're pretty outrageous," he said. "It makes it hard for the everyday fan to go."
Fans can also check the Ticketmaster website to see if tickets will be released by the NHL.

The Kings advanced Sunday to the Stanley Cup Final for the third time in team history with a 5-4 overtime victory over the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 7 of the Western Conference Final at Chicago.
