Third-Alarm Fire Displaces Dozens Of Families From Anaheim Apartment Complex
ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — Dozens of families were displaced from their homes Friday after a third-alarm fire erupted within two adjacent apartment buildings in Anaheim.
The blaze broke out shortly before 6 a.m. located in the 1500 block of East Benmore Lane, according to the Anaheim Fire Department.
Upon their arrival, crews located flames burning through the roofs of each building.
Firefighters were able to prevent the flames from spreading to additional apartment buildings nearby.
Shortly before 7 a.m., crews extinguished the fire.
One Fullerton firefighter has received treatment for second-degree burns.
No other injuries were reported.
Authorities said the Red Cross is working to assist 40 residents who were displaced by the destructive fire.
Buses have been put in place to transport victims to a food bank, which is located at a local elementary school.
Investigators said no evidence has shown signs that the fire was intentionally set.
Dry and windy conditions may have played a factor as to why the fire spread so quickly.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
