Dispute Between Temple City Neighbors Leaves 26-Year-Old Father Dead
TEMPLE CITY (CBSLA) — A neighborly dispute erupted into gunfire, killing one man in Temple City, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
The shooting happened just after 6 p.m. Monday in the 9400 block of Workman Avenue. Deputies responding to the shooting found a man with a gunshot wound to his upper body.
The man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
He was later identified as 26-year-old Cristian Alarcon.
Alarcon's girlfriend Amy Giron said their angry next door neighbor shot him right in front of their two children.
According to Alarcon's family, trouble had been brewing ever since they moved in last March and neighbors reported seeing and hearing arguing between the two houses for months.
Giron told CBSLA's Laurie Perez that the shooting occurred during a confrontation with their neighbor on Workman Avenue, one of many arguments in what she called months of harassment.
"It's been constant things, either he complains about a little bit of music being played, about noise being made in my backyard," said Giron.
Giron had told her family about the problems with their neighbor.
"A couple of days ago she was like you know Dad, I'm just tired of this, I want to leave, just I can' t stand it anymore," said her father Jose Giron.
According to Giron, things escalated Monday when she saw a camera directed into one of their bedrooms and living room.
When Alarcon confronted his neighbor, Giron says she recorded the entire thing on her phone and the neighbor already had his gun.
"This was already like you know planned in his head for sure," said Giron.
Giron said detectives have it the video she captured and LASD did recover a handgun and have a suspect in custody.
A GoFundMe page was created to help Alarcon's family with expenses.
