Teen Arrested After Allegedly Lighting Stuffed Animals On Fire In Glendora Walmart

GLENDORA (CBSLA.com) — A 13-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday after allegedly lighting Christmas-themed stuffed animals on fire at a Southland Walmart.

When officers responded around 12:10 a.m. to the 24-hour Glendora store, located at 1950 Auto Center Drive, they discovered a customer had already extinguished the flames.

Surveillance video revealed the teen used a lighter from a Christmas aisle to ignite a display full of stuffed animals, according to Glendora police.

Smoke filled the store and an employee was transported to a local hospital for shortness of breath. That person was released a short time later.

The teen, who was in the parking lot with his family, was arrested, police said.

The LA County Fire Department arson team was investigating.
