Suspicious South LA Death Of 4-Year-Old Boy Under Investigation
SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – Authorities are investigating the suspicious death of a 4-year-old boy in South Los Angeles which occurred early Thursday morning.
At 2:30 a.m., Los Angeles Fire Department crews responded to a 911 call from the boy's 24-year-old father regarding a fall and possible cardiac arrest in the 1600 block of East 47th Street.
They arrived to find a 4-year-old boy injured. He was transported to a hospital where he later died, the fire department said. His name was not released.
Los Angeles police detectives were called to investigate suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. Police told CBS2 the child had several injuries. At this time, it's unclear if the injuries caused the boy's death, police said. The boy's mother was not home at the time of the incident. The victim was alone with his father.
The family moved into the home five days ago and was living there for free, according to a friend of the homeowner.
The father later accompanied investigators voluntarily to a police station to give them a statement.
Police could not immediately confirm the circumstances of the death or if it was believed to be a homicide.
