Suspicious Package Found Near Westside Pavilion Cleared

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A suspicious package, later identified to be an empty briefcase, in West Los Angeles prompted a large police presence on Friday evening.

The item was spotted across the street from the Westside Pavilion near Pico Boulevard and Selby Avenue.

Authorities shut down Pico Boulevard between Manning Avenue and Westwood Boulevard while the LAPD and bomb squad investigated.

The scene was cleared when it was determined the case was not explosive.
