Suspicious Package At LAPD HQ In Downtown Prompts Evacuation
DOWNTOWN (CBSLA) – A suspicious package found in the mail room of the Los Angeles Police Department's downtown headquarters prompted evacuations Thursday night.
No other buildings were evacuated.
SKY9 was over the scene just after 8 p.m. at 100 W. First Street, where several officers were seen standing in a parking lot adjacent to the building.
The police department tweeted the suspicious package was an "envelope containing a powdery substance."
UPDATE: A suspicious envelope containing a powdery substance is currently being investigated by our LAPD HazMat Unit. LAPD Headquarters remains evacuated at this time.

The envelope was determined safe around 9:45 p.m. and the evacuation order was lifted, according to LAPD.
