Suspects Allegedly Kidnap, Rob Man Looking For New Year's Eve Date Online
ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — A woman and two men were arrested for allegedly kidnapping and robbing a man who was looking for a New Year's Eve date on an online service.
Alexis Songbryd, 20, Dejohn Mitchell, 20, and Donnis Grimes, 21, were booked on suspicion of carjacking, kidnapping and robbery. They are being held on $1 million bail.
Around 9 p.m. Tuesday, the victim made contact with Songbryd, who said via text message that she would meet him at midnight in an alley in the 800 block of South Cornwall Drive, according to Anaheim police Lt. Tim Schmidt.
When the victim arrived, Mitchell and Grimes jumped him and forced him at knifepoint—and with the threat of a gun—to drive them to several ATMs, Schmidt said.
The suspects then forced the victim to withdraw money, pushed him out of his vehicle and drove off, Schmidt said.
The victim was taken to Western Medical Center, where he was treated for a broken nose and other facial fractures.
The stolen vehicle was recovered Wednesday in Westminster, Schmidt said.
Authorities believe the culprits may have been involved in similar attacks.
Anyone with more information was asked to call Anaheim police Sgt. Rich La Rochelle at (714) 765-1528.
