Suspect Wanted For Allegedly Abducting His 2 Children Caught

POMONA (CBSLA.com)   —  The suspect wanted for allegedly abducting his two young daughters has been apprehended, authorities said Saturday.

The suspect, 43-year-old Adame Pete Valencia, was apprehended by California Highway Patrol officers on a freeway in Corona, a Pomona Police Department statement said.

The daughters, aged four and two, were both safe and uninjured, according to the police statement.

Before the arrest, a statewide Amber Alert was issued.

Authorities said Valencia gave himself up after learning that he was the subject of the alert. He was told to pull his vehicle over near the Magnolia Avenue exit of the 15 Freeway.

Officials said Valencia was armed and dangerous and said he assaulted the mother of the girls before allegedly abducting them.

Police said Valencia abducted his former girlfriend, Tanya Chaidez, 28, and the couple's three children at 6:05 p.m. Friday.

He released Chaidez and the couple's 5-year-old, keeping the girls, police said.

Valencia is being held on suspicion of kidnapping and child abduction.
