Suspect arrested in killing of Rancho Cucamonga veteran, VA medical center employee

CBS News Los Angeles

A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of former U.S. Marine and Rancho Cucamonga residents weeks after the incident occurred.

Deputies were dispatched to the 13100 block of Joliet Drive at a round 7:40 p.m. back on Nov. 25 after learning of a man who had reportedly suffered injuries in the area, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

Upon arrival, they found the victim, since identified as 43-year-old Rancho Cucamonga man Josh Watson, injured and non-responsive. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead, the statement said.

During their investigation, detectives learned that Watson had just arrived home when he was confronted by an unknown man.

"During the encounter, Watson received lethal injuries," deputies said. "The suspect fled the area before deputies arrived."

Now, more than two weeks later, investigators have identified the suspect as 58-year-old Mira Loma man Paul Warren. They issued a warrant for his arrest that led to his being taken into custody on Monday. He was located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and arrested by the Philadelphia Police Department.

Warren remains in custody as he awaits extradition to California, deputies said.

The relationship between Watson and Warren has not been detailed by investigators. They have also not provided a motive for the killing.

Anyone who knows more is asked to contact detectives at (909) 890-4904.
