Suspect Arrested In Bomb Threat At Downtown LA Bank
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A bank robbery suspect was in custody Monday after a bomb threat at a bank in downtown Los Angeles.
Police responded to a call around 9:40 a.m. at a Chase bank branch located along the 800 block of South Hill Street near Eighth Street, according to LAPD Media Relations.
The suspect claimed to have an explosive device, police said. The suspect also claimed that he was not working alone.
The bomb squad entered the building, and verified that there were, in fact, no explosives or other suspects at the scene.
Officers arrived and fired at least one bean-bag round at the suspect, who fell to the ground and was taken into custody.
"I saw the cops behind their cop cars with their guns drawn," one witness described. "You don't expect to see that on your way to your car."
Cash lined the sidewalk where the suspect had been taken down by officers.
