Suspect Arrested Following Shooting In Simi Valley

SIMI VALLEY (CBSLA.com)   — The Simi Valley Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect in a shooting that followed a fight between the victim and party-goers.

Just before 2 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a report of a fight taking place in the 1200 block of Patricia Avenue.

After arriving, they found an 18-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper arm.

He was transported to Los Robles Medical Center for a non-life threatening wound.

Police learned -- while conducting interviews with the victim and a witness -- that the shooting happened during a fight with party-goers at a nearby apartment.

Simi Valley Police Detectives were called in to assist with the investigation and for tracking the suspect who fled the scene. Their investigation led to information that the suspect likely fled to Fillmore.

The Ventura County Sheriff's Department was told to be on the lookout for the suspect and his vehicle.

The suspect was arrested without incident during a traffic stop. He was identified as a 35 year-old Simi Valley resident. His identity is being withheld at this time.

The weapon was recovered and booked as evidence.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Simi Valley Police Detective Keith Eisenhour at (805) 583-6967.
