High Surf Advisory Issued For LA, OC Beaches
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Strong and dangerous rip currents are expected along the shoreline, meteorologists said Monday.
According to the National Weather Service, a surf advisory will remain in effect for many Southland beaches until Wednesday.
Forecasters said surf of between six and 10 feet, with a maximum set of 12 feet, is expected along the Los Angeles County coast. The highest surf will occur at west and northwest facing beaches.
In Orange County, surf of five to eight feet sets are expected with the highest surf occurring north of Newport Beach.
Authorities said high surf conditions could possibly cause minor coastal flooding.
Any swimmers who find themselves caught in a rip current should swim parallel to the shore.
