Sugar Ray Leonard: Pacquiao, Mayweather Fight Would Generate 'Outrageous' Ratings
SANTA MONICA (CBSLA.com) — Boxers Hasan N'Dam and Curtis Stevens are eager to go after each other as both seek a title shot in an International Boxing Federation middleweight fight set for Wednesday.
The IBF elimination fight, which will take place in Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, is being pumped up by retired boxer Sugar Ray Leonard.
Speaking with CBS2's Jim Hill, Leonard touched on his thoughts of the fight all boxing fans want to see but have thus far been deprived of: Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao.
"Without question, Mayweather is the man," Leonard claimed. "Pacquiao is still the man, but Pacquiao now has to show what he's made of, because he's dropped, but he's coming back."
The former welterweight champion expanded to note that the television ratings for such a fight would be nothing short of tremendous.
"That fight is so highly anticipated, that, even if it happened yesterday, the numbers they would generate would be outrageous," Leonard said.
