'60 Minutes' Interview With Stormy Daniels: Spanking, Flirting, Promises, Threats
LOS ANGELES (CBS News) — The "60 Minutes" interview with Stormy Daniels, the adult-film star and director who says she had an affair with Donald Trump, was broadcast Sunday evening on CBS.
Daniels talks to Anderson Cooper about the relationship she says she had with Trump in 2006 and 2007, revealing details that bring her story up to the present. It is the first and only television interview in which she speaks about the alleged relationship.
The president has denied having an affair with Daniels.
The "60 Minutes" segment examined the potential legal and political ramifications of the $130,000 payment that Trump's attorney Michael Cohen, says he made to Daniels using his own funds. Daniels accepted the money in return for signing a confidentiality agreement.
Cooper conducted the interview earlier this month after Cohen obtained a temporary restraining order against Daniels and she sued the president in state court in California.
Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, is seeking a ruling that the confidentiality agreement between her and the president is invalid, in part because Trump never signed it. The president's attorneys are seeking to move the case to federal court and claim Daniels is liable for more than $20 million in damages for violations of the agreement.
Cooper said the $130,000 payout is becoming the most talked-about "hush agreement" in history.
In the interview she said she met up with Trump several times but they only had sex on the night they first met at a celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe in July 2006.
Their relationship, she said, started with heavy flirtation where he talked about himself a lot -- bragging he was on the cover of [Forbes] magazine. She offered to spank him with it, after he pulled his pants down, and she did, she claims.
She also said she was once threatened in a Las Vegas parking lot by a mysterious man. She was with her infant daughter on her way to an exercise class. "A guy walked up on me and said to me, 'Leave Trump alone. Forget the story.'" But she said she didn't call the police. "Because I was scared," she said.
Despite the fact she's facing a $1 million fine for every time she talks about Trump and their alleged affair, she said she really didn't care.
"It was very important to me to be able to defend myself," she said.
Daniels also said Trump told her he was trying to get her a role on "Celebrity Apprentice" but ultimately decided it wasn't a real promise.
"I'm not blind," she said.
