Special Olympian Helps Clippers Close Out Practice
PLAYA VISTA (CBSLA.com) - As the Los Angeles Special Olympics are months away, the Clippers invited a special guest to their practice facility Saturday morning in Playa Vista.
14-year-old special Olympian Tairek was on hand to help the team wrap their practice with a big chant.
The Special Olympics have meant a lot to head coach Doc River's who's been involved with the Athletic competition for a long time, including serving as a flag carrier in his days with the Celtics while the games were held in Connecticut.
"I've been involved for a long time," said head coach Rivers. "The neatest thing is the pure stuff you get from the kids. They tell you the truth. There is no filter. They are amazing people, they have amazing spirits and amazing toughness. Just think about the things they have to go through to perform a sports act."
The Special Olympics begin on July 25, 2015 in Los Angeles.
