Sinkhole Closes Major Road In Whittier

WHITTIER (CBSLA) — A sinkhole opened up Thursday in Whittier, closing a major roadway.

Turnbull Canyon, from Beverly Hills Drive to Skyline Drive, was closed due to a sinkhole. It was still closed as of Friday morning.

On Thanksgiving morning, officers were called to a sinkhole that opened up in the westbound lanes of Turnbull Canyon Road, approximately half-a-mile east of Beverly Hills Drive.

Officers shut down the canyon entirely in both directions. Public works officials have put up barricades and chained off the canyon until further notice.
