SigAlert Issued For 710 Freeway After Cement Mixer Overturns On Willow Street Offramp

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A cement mixer rolled onto its side on a freeway onramp in Long Beach Thursday afternoon, injuring the driver who was briefly trapped in the rig.

The 1:40 p.m. crash shut down the onramp from westbound Willow Street to the southbound Long Beach (710) Freeway, prompting a SigAlert.

Jake Heflin of the Long Beach Fire Department said the driver was freed at 2:14 p.m. and was in moderate condition when taken to a trauma center for treatment.

The mixer, which was carrying a full load of cement, spilled about two gallons of hydraulic fluid and five gallons of diesel fuel, which had to be cleaned up, according to Heflin.

Two heavy-duty two trucks were brought to the scene to right the truck, he said.
