Manhunt Underway For 2 Of 4 Robbers in Culver City Bank Heist

CULVER CITY (CBSLA.com) — Police are searching for two of the four robbers who opened fire during a heist inside a Culver City bank, according to police.

Shots were fired at about 9 a.m. Thursday inside the OneWest Bank at 10784 Jefferson Boulevard.

No one was hurt. But one of the bullets hit a front window of the bank.

An employee, who was sitting near the window, did not want to talk to reporters. But a relative said she was "extremely shaken."

After holding up the bank, police said the four bandits left the scene in one car. When police caught up with the getaway vehicle about a mile away in a residential area, the suspects took off on foot. One was arrested after a short foot chase.

A second ran into a T.J. Maxx on Jefferson Boulevard where he tried to blend in as a customer. When a patron noticed the suspect seemed suspicious, he called police immediately, said Lt. Sam Agady of the Culver City Police Department.

"It was a great observation by the resident, and he picked up the phone and let us know. We detained the suspect right the way and took him into custody," Agady said.

Two other suspects remain at large.

Two nearby elementary schools, El Marino and El Rincon, were temporarily placed on lockdown as officers searched for the suspects.
