Shots Fired At Deputies Standing In Parking Lot Of Library In Norwalk

NORWALK (CBSLA) — Shots were fired at deputies on patrol Friday night in Norwalk, but preliminary searches failed to find any suspects.

The shooting occurred at about 10 p.m. when a group of deputies were gathered near the intersection of Alondra and Pioneer boulevards to discuss an incident that had happened nearby, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.

Deputies said they heard at least four shots and believed the gunfire was meant for them, but could not determine where the shots came from. A K-9 unit responded to the scene for a search of the area, but nobody was taken into custody, the sheriff's department said.

At about 11 p.m., deputies broke down the containment area, but said that the investigation into the incident would continue.

A description of the shooter or shooters was not immediately available.
